Challenge: A family in Bussum wanted to connect their kitchen-diner to the garden via a light, semi-open garden room of 14 m². The existing rear facade had an inviting position but no transition space. They were unsure whether a permit was needed and did not want a process taking months.
Our approach: We calculated that the conservatory at the rear fell within the permit-free limits: less than 4 m deep and the rear garden zone remained well below the 50% coverage threshold. We drew a semi-open garden room in an aluminium frame with a sliding door across the full width and an insulated glass roof.
